![]() ![]() I would highly recommend for a stag/hen group and work team night out. Overall, a 5 star experience, excellent value for money and one of the highlights of our weekend in Prague. Be prepared to be transported to the past for an evening of medieval/Game of Thrones style fun! My advice would be to book in advance and go there with an open mind. Only downside was that it was very hot inside but we were there in July and I guess the lack of air conditioning only added to the authentic, medieval experience. Highlight was the group participating in the traditional dancing at the end of the evening. The entertainment value was very high and the entertainers were highly skilled in their craft. The entertainers/staff are all in authentic costume and really play the part, right down to the wenches slamming the beers on the table, which was a nice touch! The food was excellent and the beer and wine was free flowing all evening. The experience was incredible and went down a storm with the lads! Firstly, the bar itself (oldest in Prague apparently) was very cool and offers a very novel taste of historic Prague. I was initially concerned that it would be a bit cheesy and not go down well with the group, however I couldn’t have been more wrong. The staff speaks English and they take credit cards.īooked the all inclusive experience for a group of 13 on a stag do. When we asked for the bill the waitress stabbed a large knife in the middle of the table with the bill attached. The bread was a great substitute for silverware. We then realized everyone was eating with their fingers and rinsing with the bowl of water. When the food came there was no silverware. After we ordered the waitress put a bowl of water and a stack of napkins on the table which confused us. We ordered the sausage and goat cheese and bread which was also excellent. The unfiltered dark beer is excellent and inexpensive. We ordered 2 beers and the waitress slammed them on the table when she came. There is a clear medieval theme to the building and the staff dress. ![]() Hard times calls for hard drinks and rousing entertainment, whether it be. When we walked in it was dark so we sat near the window for light. The Tavern plays host to the favorite adult recreation of the kingdom: drinking. We did not know this was a theme restaurant. This includes our extra special medieval stock ale, Keeper’s Ale, brewed by the famous Wylam Brewery, along with a lighter ale, spiced wine, barley water and sometimes a fine cider! No spirits though - they haven’t been invented yet! If it all gets a bit much, you can nip next door into the “quiet room” in the chapel, where you can play a variety of medieval games or just chat with your friends. We went here for lunch after visiting Prague Castle. You’ll be entertained throughout the night with medieval music and storytelling, fed with a hearty bowl of medieval stew and will be free to sample various medieval drinks from the bar. Have you ever dreamed of sitting with your companions on a wooden bench amid the pleasant smell of straw, ale and hearty food, listening as the minstrels play and the storyteller spins a yarn? Dream no more! You can enjoy all the atmosphere and entertainment of an authentic medieval pub right here at Newcastle Castle, without the risk of Norman invasion or catching the plague.Īt the sign of the Broom, you will be ushered into our very own medieval tavern where you will be welcomed by your genial host, who will give you an authentically made clay “pottle” handmade by Jim Newboult of Trinity Court Potteries. ![]()
